Y's for Men - Yohji Yamamoto Collection: Archive (1990s-2000s) Composition: Cotton (100%) Made in Japan. This cut and sewn shirt from Yohji Yamamoto's Ys for Men line features a black vertical element on the front switching from one fabric to another. This vertical switching feature is longstanding and recurring in Yohji's work around this period especially, and sometimes shows up again today in cut and sew garments such as the recent "Rafcot Plain Stitch Vertical Combi Short Sleeves T" from Yohji's Pour Homme collection (item: HG-T53-080-1-01) which has almost an identical vertical strip. The shirt is a bit faded, reflecting its vintage nature, and so may be of interest to collectors and those who prefer this aesthetic. He created it based on the idea of clothing for men that would complement his Y's line for women thereby "enabling a man to look his best when standing next to her." The Y's for Men line has always been inspired by Yohji's personal wardrobe. In 2023 the Y's for Men line returned after 13 years and is now a current line again. Offers welcome.
