Description
A sample piece from Ann’s FW11 menswear collection in a lilac color that was neither shown on the runway nor produced as far as I can discern. Ann’s menswear during this era was designed by Sebastien Meunier, and you can clearly see the influence of his time at Margiela on these menswear collections. The outerwear for this season featured a lot of cutouts and slits that evoked the deconstructive codes of the Margiela house. However, the application of this concept to a coat like this creates a tailcoat effect as the bottom half of the coat hangs backwards, echoing Ann’s romantic sentiments. This approach was revisited for Sebastien’s iconic FW18 menswear collection, which contained a coat that looks like a successor to this one. Tagged S, fits more like a M.
