This rare iteration of Helmut Lang’s transformable briefcase / backpack switches the usual nylon for a high quality leather and was made in Japan for an AW1999 capsule of leather goods. A variety of bags, wallets and other accessories were released in a range of militaristic leathers, with this bag coming in the darkest bottle green you’ve ever seen, basically black. The releases are complete with metal ‘Made in Japan’ logo plates, and this one still has its protective film.
