These men's pants from Yohji Yamamoto's Y's collection feature a double-layered waist, front buttons, a zipper, suspender buttons, large side pocket flap covers with oversize buttons, two large back pouch pockets, double-layered shadowbox knee panels with a tailored fabric panel inset (these are not cut outs, no leg is visible), and an adjustable silhouette for the hem by using the three buttons on the bottom of each leg to create the desired shape, from wide leg to tapered. They beautifully incorporate design elements and features that have appeared across the Pour Homme line giving them a fantastic silhouette, many ways of wearing them, and quintessential Yohji style. They can be worn wide with the hem buttons opened and rolled up, and with the side pockets unbuttoned to create new structural shapes by the waist. Or buttoned down to make them a wide but tapered pant. See photos for some examples of the different configurations. These pants use the Y's brown label for men's line, and can be distinguished from women's Y's pants not only by the label, cut, and sizing but by the item number which begins with an "M" for mens (vs. "Y" for women's). He created it based on the idea of clothing for men that would complement his Y's line for women thereby "enabling a man to look his best when standing next to her."
