Y's for Men - Yohji Yamamoto Collection: Archive (1980s-1990s) Item number: MK-J07-300 Tag Size: M Composition: 100% Linen (partial rayon lining) Made in Japan. This is the archetype of a Yohji Yamamoto linen jacket from his first line for men. The beautiful linen is a soft dove grey colour, the cut and silhouette are exceptional, and it has unpadded draping Neapolitan shoulders. The pinstripe sleeve lining is meant to be shown off by rolling if you choose, as Yohji-san does with his own sleeves. The jacket colour is a frosty grey leaning toward dove grey-blue, depending on the light, it's quite neutral. It is single-breasted, with three buttons, and has two external flap pockets, one welt chest pocket, one interior buttoned flap pocket, and one interior welt pocket. In good used condition, with all buttons intact, and one internal button that has been repaired instead of replaced to maintain garment's originality (photo 11). There is a tiny area of discolouration that is not noticeable without close inspection because of the fabric's texture (see photos). He created it based on the idea of clothing for men that would complement his Y's line for women thereby "enabling a man to look his best when standing next to her." The Y's for Men line has always been inspired by Yohji's personal wardrobe. In 2023 the Y's for Men line returned after a 13 year break, and is now a current line again with new collections.
