The Doernbecher x Nike SB Dunk Low “Joey Bates” is a sneaker that was part of the 2018 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection from the Portland, Oregon children’s hospital and Nike. The annual collection of footwear designed by patients at the hospital included this Dunk Low by Joey Bates, who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Joey’s eye-catching design features a dark green and gold color combination that takes inspiration from his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. His favorite food, chicken, also makes an appearance on the shoe, while American flags are found on the tongue tag, and his name is spelled out on the heel tabs. The number 52 can be seen under the clear rubber outsoles, which is a reference to Joey’s favorite player on the Packers, Clay Matthews. The limited edition Doernbecher x Nike SB Dunk Low “Joey Bates” released in December 2018.
