The Nike LeBron 8 “South Beach 2021” is a modern re-release of perhaps the most iconic colorway in LeBron James’ signature shoe collection with Nike Basketball. Launching as a pre-heat colorway prior to LeBron’s tenure with the Miami Heat in 2010, the “South Beach” Nike LeBron 8 played an important role in advancing sneaker culture from what was then a niche hobby into the mainstream. It’s easy to see how based on the shoe’s neck breaking, “Miami Vice” inspired teal-and-pink color block. Arriving in true-to-original fashion, the Spring 2021 release features a Filament Green synthetic leather construction supported by what was Nike’s then-new supportive Flywire technology. Perforations on either side provide airflow to the foot. A glossy black synthetic Swoosh appears on the lateral side of the heel. James’s signature appears in Nike’s decidedly electric Pink Flash hue on the carbon fiber overlay on the back of the shoe. Bright flamingo-style laces sit on the black mesh tongue. LeBron’s signature Nike lion motif is embossed on the top of the black tongue. Underneath, a full-length visible Max Air unit provides a cushioned and responsive ride. Release date: May 2021.
