The Nike Kyrie 7 “Rayguns” is a January 2021 release of Kyrie Irving’s seventh signature shoe with Nike Basketball in a colorway that salutes the Roswell Rayguns. The Rayguns, a fictitious basketball team created in 2002 by Nike for a memorable television commercial, have inspired several retro designs over the years, including multiple “Rayguns” Nike SB Dunks. The “Rayguns” theme was used on the Nike Kyrie 3 in 2018, as well. Here, Nike outfits the upper in a mixture of black and orange leather in reference to the Rayguns’ team uniform colors. A black canvas Swoosh with yellow contrast stitching appears on either side. Plastic lace holders can be found on the throat and assist in holding the lacing system in place. Irving’s signature “KI” insignia is located on the black mesh tongue. Additional branding appears in the form of an embroidered gun-toting “Raygun” character on the yellow heel counter. Responsive Zoom Air cushioning is encased within the black foam midsole and provides the wearer with optimal comfort on or off the court. Release date: January 2, 2021.
