Founded by self-taught designer and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist Matthew Harris, Mateo creates timeless fine jewelry inspired by modern art, particularly the works of Alexander Calder and Wassily Kandinsky. Born in Jamaica and moving to New York City at 16, Harris established Mateo in 2009, initially focusing on men's jewelry influenced by a working man’s toolbox. The brand expanded to include women's fine jewelry in 2014. Defined by the use of lustrous pearls, dazzling diamonds, and semi-precious gems, Mateo celebrates the beauty of simplicity and minimalism in every piece, offering a modern yet timeless aesthetic.
